What is environmental fee?

"Did you know: $1.25 from every ride goes directly to fund project aimed at reducing, preventing and recapturing CO2 emissions as well as looking after the communities we operate in. This include providing solar panels for the homes of our drivers and passengers via a 6 monthly draw helping to reduce carbon emissions even more.

25% of the fund is also used on local project aimed at helping our local communities prosper and recover from things such as bushfire and fight against corona virus."

CO2 Emissions from Electricity

Australia’s very high level of emissions per person reflects the nation’s heavy reliance on fossil fuels as a primary energy source and the dominant role of coal (an emissions-intensive fuel) in the production of electricity. Australia relies on coal greatly to produce electricity.

Australian’s, on average, consume 6,570 kWhs of electricity per year each.  The modern household activities is filled with power hunger items. Thus, the electricity we use every day comprises a third (4599kg of CO2) of our individual carbon footprint.

Rooftop solar power is a clean, green, and viable alternative that can significantly cut both CO2 emissions and power costs.

Generating electricity with solar power instead of fossil fuels can dramatically reduce greenhouse gas emissions, particularly carbon dioxide (CO2).

In Australia, each kWh of electricity generated from conventional sources creates approximately 1kg of CO2. A 6.6kw solar system will produce around 10,600 kwh a year which will save around 10.6 tonnes of CO2 emissions per year.

The energy required to make a solar panel from basic raw materials in the ground to finished panel is called the ‘embedded energy’ or ‘lifecycle energy’ cost of the panel. In most cases when the solar panel is installed on a roof and generating power it only takes around two years of the panels working life to recover this energy.

Considering the two years to pay off the embedded energy in the panel, after 25 years a 6.6kw system will have a net saving of around 243 tons of CO2. You can be very confident that a quality solar system, well installed will make a huge contribution to lowering fossil fuel CO2 emissions.

ANNUAL RAFFLE DRAW FOR SOLAR PANELS

With a belief to act on reducing the effects of CO2 emissions, we are draw semi annual raffle draws for installation of solar panels at homes of our partner drivers, merchants and users. It may be a small effort towards climate chnage. But, if we each play our part, it will be a collective effort.
